Quickie in Bangkok: Taxi

Quickie!! Hahha.  It was a pretty short trip, like 3D/2N but it felt like few hours!!! hahaha.

There’s a lot of confusion when it comes to the transportation out from Bangkok Airport.  The new airport for Bangkok is now know as Suvarnabhumi Airport.  I remember the old airport is pretty old, hence this is my first time in Suvarnabhumi Airport!  =) Its pretty nice I would say with all the glass concept.

Once you come up to the arrival hall, if you’re lucky, you get to see some girls in traditional clothings.  When we arrive, I remember some celebrities is suppose to arrive around the same time, hence the girls are getting ready to welcome him/her.  :)

Anyway, once you got your luggage etc, you’ll see touts around the airport asking you to pay them for taxi service or even Limo service to your hotel/destination.  I saw one particular company with proper uniform, but I remember the rate was pretty high.  IGNORE them.  Just politely smile at them and politely decline them.  :)  What you need is a Public Taxi that goes by meter!  =) Its very simple, really, minus the language confusion.  =)

Once you are out to the common arrival hall, find Entrance 4 (You can come out from Entrance 3 too)

Once you walk out of Entrance 4, you’ll see a booth with the sign “Public Taxi”.  QUeue up, inform the person in charge on your destination and they’ll issue you a form.

Once you got your form, queue up and wait for your turn to get into the designated taxi =)

This is how the form/ticket looks like.

Put your luggage and hop on to the taxi!

Remember, the taxi fare is by meter (so it depends on your destination and also the traffic). In addition, you need to pay THB50 for the surcharge and another THB70 for the toll fare.  Some drivers might pay for you first (the toll fare), then only add into the total fare, but most of them, requires you to pay with your own money upon arrival at the toll booth.  So remember to prepare smaller notes (i.e. THB100).  And voila, you’ll reach your destination.  =) Oh, that’s provided the traffic is smooth.  But er, I don’t think it will la. hahaha….. Oh and average cost for the cab is THB300-THB500 (with surcharge and toll fare inclusive), but really, most of the time the cab fare depends on the traffic condition, which can be pretty bad most of the time.  We were stuck in the traffic for one hour!!!!!

Love,
