To eat in Langkawi is pretty subjective if you were to ask me.  So far, I was impressed with only a few la.  But of course, some recommendation would come in handy, right?  =)  So here goes

Breakfast @ Breakfast Bar

My first breakfast in Langkawi.  =P Can’t wait but all because I’m supposed to rush for island hopping.  I was darn early, k?  Give me some credit for waking up early on non-working days.  =D

Breakfast Bar’s Entrance

Cool Greetings in all language @ Breakfast Bar

Don’t expect anything fancy cos I didn’t and I thought it was a pretty nice and simple place for breakfast.  =)

The early-morning look

Started my day with black coffee (RM2.00)

I ordered Banana Pancake with Butter and Syrup (RM4.00) Even though it look more like Crepe to me, but for RM4.00, who would bother what it actually looks like?

Langkawi Breakfast – consist of 2 Toast, Butter, Jam, 2 Fried Eggs (scrambled), Slice of Chicken Ham, Slice of Cheese and Coffee (RM10.00)

Our self-engineered bread

And guess who’s the ambasaddor for Breakfast Bar?

Mind you.. She got lashes!

We wouldn’t dare to stuff ourselves with loads of food as I don’t want to vomit myself out during the island hopping.  =)  Anyway they do have plenty of varieties for breakfast which ranges from Sandwich (Cheese, Egg, Turkey Ham, Tuna, etc), Baguettes (with Cheese, Meat Loaf, Egg, etc stuffing to choose from), Yoghurt, Cornflakes, French Toast and many more.  =D

Breakfast Bar is situated at Pantai Cenang, opens from 7am – 2pm

Pisang Goreng @ Road Side Stall

I’m telling you, don’t underestimate street stall.  I must say this is one of the best Pisang Goreng (Banana Fritters) that I’ve tried.  Like seriously…

The stall by the road side

And not forgetting its cheap.  When the mak-cik at the stall told me 5 for RM1, I thought such price no longer exist.  =)  Instead of taking 5 of the Pisang Goreng, I choose 3 Pisang Goreng with 2 Cucur Udang (Prawn Fritters?).  And it only cost me RM1.50.  Even the Cucur Udang didn’t disappoint me, its like heaven in my mouth (with the gravy).  *yummy*

Straight-from-the-wok

Pisang Goreng!

Cucur Udang

Cucur Udang with the sauce *heavenly*

This Pisang Goreng Stall is situated at the road side, right in front of Underwater World Entrance.  Note : Its not the stall in front of Zon – Tax Free Shopping Mall.  Its in front of the Underwater World Entrance.  =)  Oh yeah, and they serve noodles too but I didn’t get to try it.  =)

 Lunch @ Restoran Haji Ramli

Erm, I think this place is so-so only la.  The reason why I chose this restaurant is because I was thinking of trying out the Nasi Campur.  But maybe its because it was past lunch time, the selection was just so-so and the varities of food doesn’t look that appealing.  So instead we took a plate of Nasi Campur and ordered some side dishes.

Ramli’s Menu

Nasi Campur

Prawn fried in sweet and sour style

Nasi Goreng Kampung

Fried Squid

Restoran Haji Ramli is situated at Pantai Cenang.  Opens till late.  Serve ikan bakar, other seafoods at night.

Dinner @ Fat Mum Seafood Restaurant

If you fancy Chinese Seafood, this is the place to be.  They have wide choices of seafood with various methods of cooking.  We decided for Chinese Seafood as there is some Malay seafood restaurant that strictly prohibits alcohol.  And I mean we’re in Langkawi right?  We shall see what we eat, k?

Steamed Fish with Garlic and Cili Padi ( I think its teochew style, no?)

Fat Mum’s Signature Mee

Prawns, prawns, prawns

Fried Egg with Prawn

Fried Vegetable

Fat Mum is situated at Pantai Tengah.  Drive towards Awana Porto Malai but its way before Awana and its on your left.  Look out for the big sign board.

Breakfast @ Red Tomato Garden Cafe

I’m telling you this, this is my favourite breakfast place.  Seriously, although its slightly more expensive then the usual breakfast place, but its really worth it.  =) I’m saying it again, *must try*.  =)

Red Tomato Garden Cafe

Ice Blended Coffee

My Hot Coffee (but can’t see la.. hahah but I think the glass is nice)  =P

This dish is known as Farmer’s Choice.  Consist of potato, turkey ham, onion, tomato, mushroom topped with cheese and egg and a serving of their home made bread.  Like seriously, this is yummy!

And the next dish is even nicer than the Farmer’s Choice.  I still miss it.  =(  Its known as Egg Benedict.  Its Poached Egg & Spinach, drizzled with Bernaise Sauce and a slice of home made bread.  This is really really really really really really a killer…

Last minute meal @ Airport Cafe

Ok, last minute is because this warung (not exactly cafe) is very near to the airport (like 2 mins drive) and we were on the way to the airport and still have some time to spare.  =)

Actually I’m not sure whether its called Airport Cafe but I know something similar.  =P  As a guide, its next to the roundabout near the airport.

The ever-soothing Teh Tarik

Nasi Lemak bungkus (Its small but its only RM0.50 per pack).  I think the guys can finish within 3 mouthful?

Tom Yam Soup

We had two Teh Tarik, 4 packs of Nasi Lemak bungkus and one Tom Yam Soup and the total cost is less than RM10.  We couldn’t get used to it cos a meal like this in KL will not cost you that little.  =D

Ok, hope you guys enjoy.  =P

*hugs, blur-devil*

This post and some upcoming Langkawi-related post is going to be so outdated. LOL….

If you guys do not know yet, whenever I’m going/planning for a trip, I’ll prepare a full list (detailed) itinerary (by day, by estimated time, etc).  And my colleague was kinda amazed by what I did when she stumbled upon my itinerary.  And when I told her that Langkawi trip is meant to be a relaxing trip, she just shrug me off and say “people don’t PLAN their relaxing trip, you just go and have fun”.  Erm, but I still beg to differ.  Kekek…

Ok, back to topic, Langkawi is really meant to be a “relaxing” trip.  =D Haha.. Anyway, in order to get the devil to Langkawi island, we boarded Air Asia plane and never even thought of taking the hassle to drive down and take the ferry (too far, and not cost efficient).  =)  The flight was a pleasant one and there’s nothing much that you can talk about Air Asia’s flight.  Its a no-frill air plane.  You get what I mean.  =D

Air Asia “everyone can fly”

Once we got to the baggage reclaim area, my first thought is to rent a car.  The car-for-rent counter is just right opposite the baggage reclaim area.  Trust me, you won’t miss the counters.  There’s easily more than 5 counters there where you just gotta use your instinct on which counter is the best to choose.  Anyway, as mentioned, I prefer to do my research before my trip.  =D  Thanks to enigMA, he recommended one travel agent to me, which provide car rental services and other travel related services.  After filtering names by names, I finally found the one that I was looking for and its known as Jazirah Holidays.  The moment I got to the counter, the staff will be busy promoting the different type of cars they have and the rental range.  I was actually trying hard not to look desperate in order to get a better bargain!  After much consideration, I decided to go with Perodua Viva as it is one of the newer car (hence risk of getting into a breakdown situation is lower) and its cheap.  =D  I manage to bargain for RM140 for a total of 3 days!  And we only fill up the petrol for one full tank and its more than enough for the whole 3 days.  =D  If anyone of you need the contact number and details, drop me an email.  =P

Our ride for the next 3 days  =P

Next up, is where we will be spending our nights.  =D  I manage to get a normal chalet @ Berjaya Langkawi Beach & Spa Resort for a bargain (hint: with a help from a close colleague.).  =D

The Woody-Lobby

Our devily key

Welcome Drink

Every time you need this cute buggy to transport you in and out of your hotel room

On the way to our chalet

And this is how the chalet look like.  Yeah, its in a jungle.  And there’s monkey around

And this is our hotel room  =D With a big king size bed and a day bed

Till my next post

*hugs*

Yes, I can finally start to blog about my Langkawi trip.  =D

I’ll start off with my Brunch @ The Loaf, Langkawi.  If you still don’t know, this is a bakery that is co-own by our ex-PM, Tun Dr Mahathir.  =D  As much as I like Tun, but I think the shop needs some improvement.  =D

Okie, to start off, when we were searching for the shop, we gotta find the place which is known as Telaga Harbour Park.  When I found the area, it wasn’t as nice I thought its going to be (i.e. The road leading to the place and quite a number of vacant lots).  But anyway, when I got to the shop where The Loaf is located, i was mesmerised with the view.  Like seriously, I can’t believe I’m in Malaysia.

I love to own one of these, one day (in my dreams)

And we got to, well, The Loaf (don’t you think it looks so, not-Malaysia)

The Loaf’s Entrance

Customer’s @ The Loaf’s Bakery

When we finally settled down at our table, I found that the table cloth, the chair was kinda filled with stains.  I think for such a place (at such a price), I expected more than that.  When I got the menu, it was stained too!  I wonder why?  This is the only improvement I think they should look at, but of course the service also can be better la.  =D

The Menu

The *stained* menu (Can you see?)

Ok la, anyway back to food-stuff, k?  Guess what is this?

Yeah I know its a drink.  Its not just-any-drink, its The Loaf’s Famous Ice Latte.  I love the way they put the coffee to freeze –> Became Ice and let it melt inside the glass of milk.  *slurp*

We started off with some Bread from the counter… (ala Garlic Bread)

This is known as Chapeau, if I’m not wrong.  But I think is slightly burn but it taste alright *sweet*

Then we tried the Smoked Salmon and Pan-seared Scallops Salad

Next up is this  Extra Crispy Croissant Tuna Sandwich (Its really crispy for a croissant!)

And last but not least we go for the final dessert…. Nope its not chocolate cake

Its The Loaf’s Luxurious Chocolate Cheesecake *this is good*

Satisifed with the meal and I finally realise, yes, you can spend RM100 eating breads alone.  Who say bread (or bakeries) are for the poor?  Anyway when I was leaving the place, I saw this “view” that I thought its nice.  =) Till my next blog on Langkawi.  *huggie*

Langkawi!!   =)  The most funny thing that happen was I left my sunnies in the car that we rented.  After searching hi and low (and jumping up and down k…), the guy that we rented the car from found it (after zillions of phone calls ok?).  Then i was scratching my head so hard how to get it back…. Courier doesn’t seems to be a choice cos of some trust issue and to my delight, enigma called me and told me Hwee Yee is going down to Langkawi on the day I found my sunnies!!!! How lucky I am???  Thanks Hwee Yee!!!  Can’t ait to get them back!!

WIll blog about this trip after I finish my Taipei trip ya  =P
