In Chiang Mai, they have 12 temples which are associated to the 12 animals (Chinese Zodiac). It is believed that, people should visit the temple according to their Year of Birth (according to your animal Zodiac) to bring them highest prosperity. They also strongly believed that you should visit the temple at least once in your life or if time permits, on the anniversary of each 12-year cycle (i.e. 12, 24, 36, …).
So this trip, I make it a point to visit Phra That Wat Kedkaram (Year of Dog) 🙂 There were no tourist when I was there, and I believe that, because not many people know about this particular reason or the existence of such temples associated with your Zodiac. Most tourist visit the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep (Year of Goat), which is the most famous temple in Chiang Mai. I will blog about Wat Phra That Doi Suthep later. 🙂
